WEDNESDAY  ARCHIVE  |  PEP SQUAD  MAILING LIST  GEAR  REQUEST LINE  ROCK DOC  CONNECT

back in 1995, chicago's jeff tweedy made the world a much better place.  after his previous band, uncle tupelo went their separate ways, he and other tupelo members went on to form the band wilco, what would become an alt-country powerhouse.

on may 15, 2007 wilco released their sixth studio album, a far more relaxed and organic collection of songs than recent albums, in fact, sky blue sky more closely relates to their earlier americana/roots rock style and has become wilco's most commercially successful album to date.  in fact, volkswagon licensed the full album for use in an entire ad campaign. because of this, you will probably recognize a bunch of the songs ("either way", "you are my face", "sky blue sky").

click here to access wilco's 28 february 2008 performance recorded by national public radio at the famous washington, d.c. venue, the 9:30 club.

if after listening to the 9:30 club show, you find that you need more wilco, click here to check out the great documentary, i am trying to break your heart about the release of their fourth LP, yankee hotel foxtrot.

as always, please buy this album from your local independent music store and not from retailers like wal-mart (soulless, globally-homogenizing, community-killers) or i-tunes (albums should be listened to as an entire composition with album cover and liner notes in hand).

wilco rocks.

if you agree, please spread the word (about the band and this site).
