performing in a crooning, uncensored, yet elegant
jazz lounge styling, richard cheese and lounge against the machine have covered
american classic standards from all of the greats: snoop dogg's "gin and juice",
guns n' roses "welcome to the jungle", madonna's "material girl", 2 live crew's "me so horny", britney spears' "toxic",
and of course sir-mix-a-lot's "baby got back". anyway, the band rounded out by bobby ricotta, frank feta and billy bleu formed in los angeles in 2000. the names are obviously pseudonyms and as new members join the lineup they typically take on the name of the musician they are replacing. the story behind richard cheese's name is at least pg-13 and since wednesday-music.com is a family website, i will let you research it on your own. incidentally, jimmy buffett fans are called "parrot heads"; grateful dead fans are called "dead heads". for extra credit, what are richard cheese fans are called? since 2000, the band have released seven lp's. their latest effort and a live album, viva la vodka dropped june 23, 2009. additionally, they plan to release ok bartender and lavapaloza (tiki styled covers of rock and rap hits) in 2009 and back in black tie and a lounge supreme in 2010. look out for them; they're gonna be swanky. click here for a bunch of videos and live performances on youtube. don't forget, the album cover image always links to sample songs and the band's image to their website. richard cheese and lounge against the machine are knee deep in a us tour. check here to view their tour schedule. as always, please buy this album from your local independent music store by people who know and love music and not from retailers like wal-mart (soulless, globally-homogenizing, community-killers) or i-tunes (albums should be listened to as an entire composition with album cover and liner notes in hand). incidentally, these two companies sell more music than any other retailer in the united states. that my friend, bites. richard cheese and lounge against the machine rock. if you agree, please spread the word (about the band and this site). don't worry if you missed the veckatimest review from last week: here it is. |
