WEDNESDAY  ARCHIVE  |  PEP SQUAD  MAILING LIST  GEAR  REQUEST LINE  ROCK DOC  CONNECT
asheville based old timey bluegrass/early country band paul’s creek are made up of carol rifkin (vocals),  troy harrison (banjo), jamie soesbee (bass) and tim gardner (fiddle, multi-instrumental).

the band’s name comes from the creek running alongside the north carolina home carol shares with her husband paul. the musical stories they tell are sometimes originals, sometimes folk, but nearly always focus on a traditional appalachian bluegrass mountain narrative.

“paul’s creek band represents what mountain music in the blue ridge is all about!” wrote rev. phillip trees.  “the musicianship and variety is wonderful.”

paul’s creek’s music focuses on storytelling and harmonies, “you can tell the members of paul’s creek band like each other, it comes through in their smooth harmonies, their solid playing and the infectious good time they bring to their shows” said david holt.

in fact, many times during live gigs, carol, an accomplished clogger, breaks out into dance.

paul’s creek released their second lp, the self titled paul's creek in 2010.  “this one has a tremendous amount of energy,” carol said. “it's true to who we are as a band.”  the album includes new material as well as classic bluegrass tales.

as always, please buy this album from your local independent music store by people who know and love music and not from retailers like wal-mart (soulless, globally-homogenizing, community-killers) or i-tunes (albums should be listened to as an entire composition with album cover and liner notes in hand).  incidentally, these two companies sell more music than any other retailer in the united states.  that my friend, bites.

paul's creek flow.

if you agree, please spread the word (about the band and this site).
