on september 09, 2008 femme fatale jenny lewis (of
rilo
kiley, jenny lewis and the watson twins and
the postal service
fame) released her sophomore solo effort acid tongue. on which she
was given the opportunity to
collaborate with
elvis costello,
she & him,
m ward; chris robinson (black
crows), and her own family members. the album
finds influence in the
rolling stones'
sticky fingers,
joni mitchell's court and spark, soul, blues and jazz
resulting in indie pop bliss. jenny wasn't always the indie rock glamour queen you see before you today. she began her career in a jell-o commercial and as a child actor appeared in such films as: troop beverly hills; big girls don't cry, they get even; and perry mason: the case of the defiant daughter. although i have never seen any of these screen gems, i would have to assume that she made the right choice in leaving acting for music. click here to listen to a rilo kiley show from washington, d.c.'s 9:30 club on 26 september 2007. to download a jenny lewis and the watson twins show from 16 october 2006, click here, then click "download the concert" on the left hand side of the screen. click here to listen to an interview from fresh air on whyy recorded 06 march 2006. don't forget, the album cover image always links to sample songs and the band's image to their website. check back here to see if jenny lewis is coming to your town. as always, please buy this album from your local independent music store by people who know and love music and not from retailers like wal-mart (soulless, globally-homogenizing, community-killers) or i-tunes (albums should be listened to as an entire composition with album cover and liner notes in hand). incidentally, these two companies sell more music than any other retailer in the united states. that my friend, bites. jenny lewis rocks. if you agree, please spread the word (about the band and this site). don't worry if you missed the furr review from last week: here it is. |
