the indie dance/pop quartet delorean formed at the turn of the century in the basque country and is comprised of ekhi lopetegi (vocals, bass), guillermo astrain (guitar), unai lazcano (keyboards), and igor escudeo (drums).

they were named after the great back to the future trilogy.

the band formed as punk outfit, and moved to barcelona in 2007. soon after the move, they began focusing on electronic music and computer-based writing and production.  they actually started their own nightclub, desperrame, as an alternative to the techno scene.  

their first positive public exposure came with the release of their critically acclaimed 2009 ep, the club inspired ayrton senna. pitchfork named it to their “best new music” list, soon after they were asked to remix franz ferdinand ("live alone") and the xx ("islands") singles.

delorean released its third album, subiza, on may 04, 2010 and was once again named to pitchfork’s “best new music” list.  the album, with its unique “mediterranean sound” takes cues from spain’s native “balearic beat, madchester house, techno and r&b.”

as always, please buy this album from your local independent music store by people who know and love music and not from retailers like wal-mart (soulless, globally-homogenizing, community-killers) or i-tunes (albums should be listened to as an entire composition with album cover and liner notes in hand).  incidentally, these two companies sell more music than any other retailer in the united states.  that my friend, bites.
