in 2004, cold war kids formed in an apartment on mulberry street in fullerton, california.  soon after, the four piece band released their debut e.p., mulberry street.  they quickly created a buzz on the internet and in the fall of 2006 released their debut l.p., robbers and cowards.

on september 23, 2008 cold war kids released their second l.p., loyalty to loyalty.  the album title comes from a paper written by josiah royce, a little known  philosopher from the early 1900's.  in royce's paper, titled "loyalty to loyalty", he challenged friedrich nietzshe's ideas about the "will to power" and ubermensch or superman (not that superman).

anyway, like royce's paper, the album talks about the idea that we should embrace each other, rather than climb over one another to get to the top.

in addition to early twentieth century philosophers, cold war kids find influence in jeff buckley, bob dylan, billie holiday, and velvet underground.  not a bad group.

cold war kids have a bunch dates scheduled.  click here to see if they are playing near you.

as always, please buy this album from your local independent music store by people who know and love music and not from retailers like wal-mart (soulless, globally-homogenizing, community-killers) or i-tunes (albums should be listened to as an entire composition with album cover and liner notes in hand).  incidentally, these two companies sell more music than any other retailer in the united states.  that my friend, bites.

cold war kids rock.

if you agree, please spread the word (about the band and this site).
