neon bible by montréal's arcade fire is not a new album. in fact, it was released back in march and ended up on countless 2007 top 10 lists. this record, along with their debut, 2004's "funeral" should be required listening by anyone interested in good music. i think that their current popularity is a testament to that fact. their albums offer a theatrical intensity that remind me of the bands the pixies or broken social scene. arcade fire creates incredibly layered music with unique instrumentation featuring everything from organ to violin. don't forget, the album cover image on the upper right of the screen always links to sample songs, the band's image on the lower right links to their website. as always, please buy this album at your local independent music store and not from retailers like wal-mart (soulless global homogenizers) or i-tunes (albums should be listened to as an entire composition with album cover and liner notes in hand). also check out the "support" links on the bottom of the page as they are regularly updated. arcade fire rocks. if you agree, please spread the word (about the band and this site). don't worry if you missed the boxer review from last week: here it is. |
